Skincare born from
a personal need.
Maru began with a simple realisation: dry skin needs deeper nourishment.
As someone with melanin rich skin who has lived across different countries and climates, I experienced how easily skin can feel dry, depleted and out of balance through seasonal changes, harsh water and unfamiliar environments.
I searched for skincare that truly nourished my skin, formulas that provided lasting comfort, supported its natural balance and helped restore the healthy radiance that comes from deeply cared for skin.
Too often, I found products that focused on surface hydration rather than the deeper nourishment my skin needed.
So I returned to what I knew.
To the comfort of oils as part of everyday care.
To the wisdom of African botanicals, many sourced from resilient desert landscapes and long valued for their ability to nourish, soften and restore.
Growing up in South Africa and experiencing changing climates firsthand, I discovered the powerful role these oils could play in caring for skin that feels dry, stressed or depleted.
